Aranui and Wainoni walking tours

Discover the stories that shaped Aranui and Wainoni

Curious about the history of Aranui & Wainoni?

Step back in time and discover the stories that shaped Aranui and Wainoni.

Join local historian and long-time resident Tim Baker for a series of relaxed community walks exploring the people, places, and events that helped form one of Christchurch’s most unique neighbourhoods.

The Aranui & Wainoni History Trails consist of six guided walks through the area, each focusing on a different part of local history — from early settlers and community landmarks to wartime stories and everyday life of years gone by.

Along the way, Tim will provide a commentary on the  historical photographs, and stories he has gathered together through years of research and local knowledge.

These walks are designed for locals, newcomers, and anyone interested in learning more about the history of the area.
